Wellness brand AXSEED launched the advance sale campaign for its new functional sock, “Ashidori Kakumei,” on the support purchase site Makuake at 11:50 a.m. JST on November 4, 2026, as reported by PR Times. Developed by former J. League player and judo-orthopedist Ryota Takahashi, the socks apply taping principles from clinical treatment settings to support the body from the ground up through six dedicated knitting structures aimed at ankle stability, sole contact, and joint mobility.
From Athletic Setbacks to Clinical Innovation
Takahashi’s path to developing the socks stems from a career cut short by injuries. After coming through the youth ranks to earn a top-team promotion with Nagoya Grampus, he suffered an ankle ligament tear just as he realized his dream of turning professional. Repeated injuries trapped him in a cycle of physical pain and mental stress until a team trainer diagnosed structural breakdown in his ankles. Shifting his focus to targeted foot and ankle conditioning not only helped him break free from recurring injuries but also improved his overall athletic performance.
Following his playing career, Takahashi pursued a clean slate by earning a national qualification as a judo-orthopedist. In 2022, he opened the UP door Clinic in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture. Treating young athletes, working professionals, and parents struggling with physical discomfort prompted him to design a simple, daily intervention. Takahashi faced rejections from dozens of sock manufacturers in Japan and overseas who balked at his complex structural requirements before finally securing a production partner after more than a year of development.
Reunion on the Post-Retirement Front
To highlight the broader mission behind the brand—supporting athletes handling the often-difficult transition of retirement—Takahashi enlisted his former Nagoya Grampus youth teammate, Tomohiro Tsuda. Tsuda carved out a two-decade professional career that included scoring 14 goals in J2 during the 2013 season to help Tokushima Vortis earn its first-ever promotion to J1.

Back the Makuake Campaign or Buy Retail Pairs
The collaboration between Takahashi and Tsuda forms the core of AXSEED’s founding philosophy: turning setbacks and detours into the foundation for future challenges. The Makuake campaign runs through 23:59 JST on December 11, 2026, with general retail availability planned at 3,480 yen including tax per pair. Manufactured in China using a blend of cotton, polyester, nylon, and polyurethane, the socks are offered in black and gray across three size brackets spanning 22 centimeters to 28 centimeters, alongside limited reward tiers that include direct consultations and AI posture analysis sessions with the developer.
