Valsamoggia Prepares to Host National Squad Selection Trials
Archers from across Italy are preparing for a decisive weekend of competition as Valsamoggia hosts the national squad selection trials on June 28 and 29, 2026. Organized by the Asd Hunter Archery Team, the two-day event in the Bologna province will determine the final roster representing the country in upcoming international competition, Caccia Passione reported.
Selection Criteria Rooted in 2024 and 2025 Rankings
The selection process began following the conclusion of the Coppa Italia-International Round on May 18, 2026. On May 21, governing bodies issued initial email invitations to reigning 2024 individual Italian champions alongside the top four athletes in the Coppa Italia ranking under the 2025 National Squad Regulations. Competitors received nearly two weeks to confirm their availability. Organizers adjusted the event format to include Saturdays to accommodate athletes balancing work schedules.
Late Qualifications and Technical Discretion Shape the Roster
Following the final qualifying events on June 8, selectors filled remaining slots in the five-archers-per-target layout on the subsequent Monday. While initial invitations saw high acceptance rates, withdrawals due to unavoidable circumstances triggered supplementary call-ups drawn from the 2025 national ranking. To maximize podium potential, the head coach exercised specific regulatory provisions to issue ad-personam technical selections.
Bevagna Training Camp and the Journey to Slovakia
Official results from the Valsamoggia selection trials will be released in early July. Confirmed class and category winners must report to a national team training camp scheduled for July 13 and 14 in Bevagna, Perugia. The two-day gathering will combine tactical briefings, training sessions, and team-building activities alongside official kit distribution ahead of the squad’s departure for Slovakia.
