The seaside district of Miramare has a brand-new sporting hub after Carlton Myers joined local officials to inaugurate a regulation-sized court at Parco Spina Verde, replacing a turf pitch with a dual-purpose athletic space.
Parco Spina Verde Transformation Replaces Old Astroturf With Regulation Alternative
The upgraded facility on Via Mosca opened following a complete redesign of the neighborhood green space. The municipal administration confirmed that the project absorbed a total investment of 125,000 euros, secured through funding from the Ministry of the Interior. Anthea managed the engineering and construction phases from conception to ribbon-cutting.
Crews removed the five-a-side soccer pitch that previously occupied the zone, replacing it with a concrete-slab basketball court finished in slip-resistant acrylic resins. The surface incorporates specific slopes and drainage systems designed for water runoff. According to municipal blueprints, the basketball area measures the regulation size of 28 by 15 meters, surrounded by a two-meter safety perimeter and outfitted with single-stem cantilever steel hoops.

Carlton Myers headlined the opening ceremony alongside Jamil Sadegholvaad. City councilors Anna Montini and Mattia Morolli also attended the ribbon-cutting, accompanied by players of Rinascita Rimini.

Dual-Sport Design Preserves Football Access Alongside Basketball Courts
City planners structured the Parco Spina Verde redesign to avoid displacing existing sports participants, carving out an adjacent grass-and-steel setup for football enthusiasts. A newly installed 1.5-meter-wide draining concrete pathway separates the two disciplines while offering direct pedestrian access.

The adjacent open-air football zone measures roughly 25 by 15 meters, completely free of obstacles, and features two newly anchored steel goals. Benches flank the athletic areas to accommodate players.
Upgraded LED Lighting Eliminates Dark Spots and Extends Evening Hours
Security and visibility improvements formed a core component of the Ministry of the Interior-backed refurbishment. Engineers installed four new LED light poles across the dual-sport zone to eliminate dark spots and increase the perception of security for evening visitors.
On the basketball court specifically, contractors replaced an older floodlight with two high-powered fixtures designed to cast even illumination across the entire 28-by-15-meter playing surface. The park’s revitalization concluded with the maintenance of trees and the installation of new urban furnishings.
