Alto Hospicio Local Archers Shine at National Archery Ranking Event

Archers from local clubs and municipal training programs secured multiple podium finishes at the fourth stage of the National Archery Ranking for subcategories and masters, held at the Municipal Stadium in Alto Hospicio.

Podium Finishes for Local Competitors

The four-day tournament, which ran from October 1 to October 4, featured competition across 20 distinct categories, bringing together 17 clubs from across the country. Local athletes representing the Saetas del Desierto Club and the Municipal Archery Training Schools captured key medals in individual events. Karla Monroy Garzón earned the gold medal in the under-13 recurve division, while teammate Amaru León Riveros Yáñez took the silver medal in the same age group. In the under-15 recurve category, Matías Renato Roa Díaz secured a silver medal, and Roberto Carlos Herrera Valdés added a bronze medal in the under-18 barebow division.

Tournament Organization and National Participation

The event was organized by the Saetas del Desierto Club with backing from the Municipality of Alto Hospicio through its Directorate of Sports and Culture. Funding for the competition came through the regional FNDR project aimed at supporting recreational, formative, and competitive sports in the commune. The tournament drew participants from Arica, Iquique, Santiago, Peñaflor, Linares, Machalí, and Alto Hospicio, featuring 13 individual categories, three doubles categories, and four mixed team events.

Infrastructure Utilized for Visiting Delegations

Organizers pointed to the facility as evidence of the commune’s capacity to host national-level sports competitions. Special recognition during the event was also directed toward Roberto Guardia, the Chilean Olympic Committee delegate, for his support of regional archery development.
