El Estadio Municipal en Esquel will host an official ranking tournament for outdoor archery on October 25, bringing regional competitors together for a decisive step toward the national finals, as reported.
Organized by the Club de Arquería Andino Patagónico, the open-division competition is part of the official calendar set by the Federación Argentina de Tiro con Arco. Archers aiming for a spot at the National Final in Neuquén must secure their official homologation scores at this event.
Forty Archers Registered With Registration Remaining Open
As of mid-week, 40 athletes have secured their spots in the tournament. The Club de Arquería Andino Patagónico confirmed that registration will remain open through Friday, leaving a final window for late entrants from across the region to sign up.
Competitors are traveling from several Patagonian localities, including Cipolletti, Puerto Madryn, Comodoro Rivadavia, and Esquel itself. The roster covers all categories recognized by the national federation, ranging from senior divisions to school brackets and youth categories spanning sub-13, sub-15, and sub-18.
The host club expects to field roughly 15 competitors alone. Their lineup spans from sub-13 juniors to archers over 50 years old, illustrating the wide age distribution within the sport locally.
Qualifying Rounds and Elimination Brackets on the Grass Pitch
Action on the turf of the Estadio Municipal gets underway Sunday morning with the qualification round. Every archer will shoot 72 arrows, broken down into series of six-arrow ends, with a 15-minute break scheduled between sets.
Scores from the morning session establish an order of merit, which determines the head-to-head elimination brackets. Shooters then face off in direct duels where winners advance and losers are eliminated. This knockout system continues round by round until the finalists and category winners are decided, meaning final placements rest on head-to-head performance rather than the morning qualification standings alone.
The Path to the National Finals in Neuquén
For the region’s archers, Sunday’s meet serves a dual purpose: meeting the strict sporting requirements for the Neuquén national showdown while bolstering the competitive calendar in Patagonia. With forty athletes already locked in and registration ticking down toward Friday’s deadline, the Estadio Municipal prepares to host a critical test for regional marksmanship.
