Regional qualification bouts held at San Vito al Tagliamento on Saturday, Oct. 17, determined the athletes advancing to the Italian A2 judo championship finals. Competitors across the Under-15 and senior men’s divisions secured their berths for the upcoming national showdowns hosted at the PalaPellicone facility in Ostia.
Under-15 Female Division Qualifiers
The regional tournament established the female competitors advancing in the lighter weight categories. In the 40 kg division, Eleonora Boezio representing Kuroki and Sofia Varaschin from Tamai booked their tickets to Ostia. Ilaria Ferracci of Dojo Sacile earned qualification in the 52 kg bracket, while Lia Ros of Dojo Sacile advanced in the 57 kg category.
Under-15 Male Division Brackets
Youth competition across the male weight classes produced a broad list of qualifiers from regional clubs. Santana Iaconcic of Acc. Muggia and Adam Khouy of Azzanese advanced in the 38 kg division. The 42 kg bracket sent Nicolò Poletto of Dojo Sacile and Thomas Martinuzzi of Skorpion Pordenone through to the national stage. Muggia and Nikola Peric of Sport Team Udine qualified at 46 kg, while Davide Zampese of Azzanese and Leonardo Macola of Sport Team Udine secured the 50 kg spots.
Mid-weight youth qualifiers feature Lorenzo Bencivenga of Ginnastica Triestina, Nicola Oliver Ferro of Judo Tamai, Massimo Zampese of Azzanese, and Gabriele Pivetta of Sekai Budo Pordenone in the 55 kg category. Giovanni Dapretto of Ginnastica Triestina and Mattia Bruni of Kuroki advanced at 60 kg. The 66 kg division qualified four athletes: David Peressin of Ginnastica Triestina, Diego Da Ros of Tamai, Michele Zucca of Ginnastica Triestina, and David Ilis of Sport Team Udine. Heavier weight qualifiers include Leonardo Pio Cofano of Sport Team Udine at 73 kg, Gabriele Centore of White Tiger Zoppola at 81 kg, and Mattia Maurutto of Dlf Yama Arashi Udine in the +81 kg class.
Senior Men National Championship Berths
Senior men competed for qualification slots across divisions at the San Vito al Tagliamento venue. Francesco Biancifiori of Azzanese advanced in the 60 kg category. The 73 kg division sent Alessio Esposito of Dlf Yama Arashi Udine and Marco Rossi of Corpo Libero Ronchi through to the finals. Aliseo Mancosu of J.C.S.Vito claimed the 81 kg berth. In the 90 kg class, Davide Battiston of Azzanese and Leonardo Bozzo of Kai Gradisca secured qualification. Filippo Armano of Ginnastica Triestina completed the regional senior list by advancing in the 100 kg division.
National Finals Schedule at PalaPellicone
Qualified athletes will travel to Ostia for the national championship events. The Assoluto A2 finals are scheduled for Nov. 7–8, followed by the Esordienti A2 finals on Nov. 21–22 at the PalaPellicone venue.
