Operating out of the Mairie de Valognes on Place du Général de Gaulle in Valognes, France, the Judo Club Valognes-Montebourg boasts a 70-year history across two dojos.

Seven Decades on the Mats in Valognes

The organization currently serves more than 150 members ranging from 4 to 77 years old. Affiliated with the French Judo Federation (FFJUDO), the club offers leisure activities and competitive federation programming in judo, Taïso, and self-defense under the supervision of three state-certified sports educators.

Daily Duties on the Tatami

The selected civic service volunteer will work directly alongside the club’s coaching staff on the tatami to guide and advise judoka of varying skill levels. Daily duties encompass both athletic support and logistical coordination.

On the mats, the volunteer will assist during children’s classes by leading warm-up routines for small groups, acting as a training partner for coaches, and providing individualized attention to children with disabilities who require additional time to comprehend exercises.

Expanding Adaptive Programs and Administration

Beyond mat-side coaching, the role involves supporting dedicated adult disability classes, where coaching staff emphasize the need for enhanced supervision. Administrative tasks round out the position, including greeting and informing parents, assisting coaches in preparing training camps, and aiding in the organization of sporting and club events.
