Discover Badminton: The World’s Fastest Racket Sport – Fast, Fit & Fun

Badmintonclub Wassenaar has launched a local initiative running alongside a nationwide campaign by Badminton Nederland, offering newcomers a structured introduction to the sport starting in the first week of October, according to local reports. The program gives participants ten guided lessons covering basic skills, rules, and introductory matches for a fee of €25.

Structured Lessons and National Campaign Integration

The initiative stems from a partnership with Badminton Nederland’s nationwide promotional drive. BC Wassenaar has added its own club-level promotion to encourage sign-ups ahead of the October start date. Participants train in small groups to master fundamental techniques, understand court regulations, and play their opening matches in a social setting.

Organizers have set an application deadline of October 1 for interested players. Registration and further details are available through the platform probeerbadminton.nu, while inquiries can be directed to the club via [email protected].

Club Environment and Training Venue

BC Wassenaar hosts its training sessions and club activities at the newly established De Duinpan sports hall. For prospective members wishing to observe sessions prior to enrolling, the club holds open viewing times on Monday evenings starting at 19.30 local time for players aged 15 and older, and on Wednesday mornings from 10.00 local time for players aged 55 and older.

Reflecting on the club atmosphere, a past participant noted that the supportive environment and structured lessons eliminate the hurdle of organizing private court rentals, stating: “I’m just going to keep going, it’s a nice club, the lessons are educational and there are always people to play against.”

Membership Incentives for the 2025/2026 Season

To retain participants following the introductory course, BC Wassenaar offers tiered membership discounts for the 2025/2026 season. New members who join after completing the introductory phase receive a 25 percent discount on their seasonal membership. Those who sign up in groups of two or more receive a 50 percent reduction.
