The Messina Archery Team enjoyed a successful weekend at the regional indoor archery championships held in Trapani, Sicily, on Saturday and Sunday, March 21st and 22nd, 2026. Led by coach Daniela Potoschi, the team secured numerous podium finishes across various categories.

Individual and Team Successes

Daniela Potoschi herself had a standout performance, claiming the title of regional champion in the Master Female division and securing gold in the Absolute Female category. Simona Quartarone continued her dominance, being reconfirmed as the regional champion in the Women’s Youth division for the second consecutive year.

The team also excelled in team events. The Master Male team of Marco Macrì, Francesco Ugliera, and Fabio Mondello earned a silver medal. Another silver went to the Absolute Female team comprised of Potoschi, Quartarone, and Sofia Mostaccio. The Youth Female team – Quartarone, Mostaccio, and Alessandra Interdonato – took home a bronze medal.

Young archer Gabriele Mirulla, competing in his first regional championship, achieved a commendable 8th-place finish in the Boys’ category. In the barebow senior male individual competition, also a first regional championship for both, Salvatore Interdonato finished 8th and Francesco Previte placed 10th.

This strong showing highlights the growing strength of the Messina Archery Team and the dedication of its athletes and coach Daniela Potoschi. The regional championships serve as an important stepping stone for archers aiming to compete at the national level.

According to FITArco’s archer database, Daniela Potoschi, born in 1970, is a Master Female archer representing A.S.D. MESSINA ARCHERY TEAM. Her ranking is currently 13th in the Indoor – Arco Ricurvo – Master Female division.

The team’s success builds on previous achievements. A report from February 28, 2024, in MessinaSportiva.it details the team’s performance at the regional indoor 18-meter championship in Acireale, where they also secured multiple individual and team medals, including a gold medal for Simona Quartarone, Martina Sauta, and Sofia Mostaccio in the girls’ team event.

The Messina Archery Team also engages with the local community, as evidenced by a recent event at the Palanebiolo UNIME, where coach Daniela Potoschi and athlete Marco Macrì conducted a practical archery lesson for students, as noted on the team’s Facebook page.

The team will undoubtedly look to build on this momentum as the archery season progresses. Their next scheduled competition is not yet publicly available, but information will be released through the FITArco website and the Messina Archery Team’s social media channels.

Archery continues to grow in popularity in Sicily, and the Messina Archery Team is at the forefront of this development, providing opportunities for athletes of all ages and skill levels to participate in this challenging and rewarding sport.
