In an interview with the New York Times, he also said that his relationship with Amal calmed him down in many ways and made him reconcile with many things. “We were renovating the house and Amal was saying, ‘I want to paint this wall yellow.’ “If I was 27, I’d probably think, ‘That’s a stupid color,'” George admitted. “But the truth is, at sixty you just say, ‘Okay.’ So many things that used to cause arguments no longer bring any tension,” he smiles.
