Football: Play at Any Age

On February 1, Vasily Ryabukhin turns 69 years old.

There is a unique person in Kuban football, a player with a capital P, who almost never played in master teams, but at the same time was the champion of the city, the region, and the country. He played on green fields until he was almost 55 years old, and sometimes took to the field in friendly matches even in his old age. His skill is beyond doubt, his character is worthy of emulation, and his willpower and fighting qualities would be useful to many players in today’s football. We will talk about Vasily Vladimirovich Ryabukhin, who for many years played for the leading regional teams of the region and the city.

A product of Krasnodar football, Vasily, at the age of 18, joined the Kuban reserve team in 1975, when the team played in the First League of the USSR. Ryabukhin even made his debut in the team. But suddenly in May, the All-Union Football Federation canceled the reserve competition for the First League, and more than 100 young, promising players lost their jobs on the same day and were drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army.

It was not possible to retain talented guys. Some of them left football, many never returned to the team…

Ryabukhin, having returned from the army, regained his form and began to play for the championship of the region and city. The peak of his career came in the 80s of the 20th century, when he defended the colors of Avtomobilist (PATP-3) Krasnodar. That team, which included former Kuban players, older players, was a serious force for many years and was among the leading regional teams. Then Ryabukhin defended the colors of Vympel, the multiple champion of Krasnodar, and at the same time played for the veterans of Kuban. A reliable, courageous defender who sees the field well came to the court of our veteran team and firmly took his place in the base. Champion of Russia 2002, 2010, multiple champion of the region, Southern Federal District, tournaments “In Memory of K.I. Beskov” – this is our birthday boy.

Since 2002, he has been an employee of FC Kuban, where he worked for almost 16 years. And in his work, Vasily Vladimirovich was an example of reliability and professionalism.

The professional football club “Kuban” congratulates Vasily Vladimirovich on his birthday! We wish the birthday boy good health, optimism, good luck in all his endeavors and family happiness and prosperity!
