Twenty wins in the season was the second time Vejmelka in the NHL had won in his career. The goalkeeper, who is nominated by the Czech national team for the Olympic tournament in Milan, also did it last season for Utah, when he contributed to 26 wins.
He thus imitated Dominik Hašek, together they are the only Czech goaltenders who reached twenty wins in a season the fastest of all in the NHL.
