According to consistent media reports, Bayer Leverkusen has found a replacement for their knee-injured goalkeeper Mark Flekken at Rhine rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach: Gladbach’s replacement goalkeeper Jonas Omlin is apparently joining the Werkself on loan until the end of the season. There should be no purchase option.
In Leverkusen, the 32-year-old Swiss is scheduled to be number two behind Janis Blaswich. Premier League newcomers AFC Sunderland are also said to have tried to sign Omlin, whose contract in Gladbach runs until 2027.

Next transfer coup for FC Schalke 04: The second division leaders are probably about to sign midfielder Dejan Ljubicic after Edin Dzeko’s move. His current coach Mario Kovacevic from Dinamo Zagreb confirmed corresponding rumors on Saturday.
“Yes, he could have played even better, but I am grateful to him for everything he did for Dinamo. I wish him all the best at Schalke,” Kovacevic said at a press conference.
According to “Sky”, the 28-year-old Austrian should be in the stadium on Sunday (1:30 p.m./Sky) for the home game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Afterwards, the medical check and the signing of the contract take place.

Champions League experience for the fight against relegation: FC St. Pauli has signed Norwegian midfielder Mathias Rasmussen. As the club announced one day after the 0-0 draw in the city derby against Hamburger SV, the 28-year-old is moving from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise to Millerntor. St. Pauli did not provide any information about the transfer fee or contract term.
For Rasmussen, who played in five Champions League games for Saint-Gilloise this season, this means a reunion with Alexander Blessin. In the 23/24 season, the current St. Pauli coach was on the sidelines at the Belgian club and worked with the Norwegian.
“With Mathias, a very clearly structured midfielder, we were able to convince him to move to FC St. Pauli. What is particularly important is that he can be used in various positions in the center and thus opens up additional options for us in midfield,” said sports director Andreas Bornemann: “He also brings footballing maturity and international experience.”
After the draw against HSV, St. Pauli is in danger of falling to the bottom of the Bundesliga table this weekend.
