«Davide was a generous and loyal boy, reserved, but capable of having cordial relationships with everyone – recalls Giovanna Possidente, teacher of Greek and Latin who followed Davide Borgione during his three-year period at the D’Azeglio classical high school -. He was full of dreams, music and sport above all. All this helped him to live with the great pain of losing his brother, which occurred when he was only sixteen. He never talked about it, but it was clear that he suffered from it also because for him that older brother was an important point of reference. He had grown up a little faster than the others and, perhaps, this was also why his classmates turned to him when there was something to organize outside of the school environment. Let’s say he was a leader».
The accident
Professors and classmates still can’t understand how Davide Borgione, the 19-year-old boy who ended up on the ground in that clearing between Corso Marconi and Via Nizza on Friday evening, hit by a car that didn’t stop, could die in just a few seconds. He was coming home from the disco. He didn’t have a helmet. He hit his head. He arrived at the CTO hospital probably already lifeless. «Head trauma», the cause of death declared in the emergency room.

«We lost a student in the most unfair and painful way – continues Professor Possidente -. Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones. I will remember him at his desk, with the faintest smile and lively, very black eyes, full of life».
The friends of Barcanova
This morning they were there only drawn faces in the Barcanova sports facility in via Occimiano 17 where Davide Borgione grew up playing football. «He was a really good boy with an exemplary family behind him – says Bruno Nervo, youth coach who, for four years, coached “Borgi” as his friends called him -. He started out as a pure striker, but then moved on to playing in the middle of the pitch because he was intelligentunderstood the mechanics of the game, which is not for everyone. Sometimes he even wore the captain’s armband because he still had the qualities of a leader.” Many of his former teammates, during these hours, when they heard the news, called Mr. Nervo.
“They told me that on Friday evening they had seen each other right there in Via Sacchi and said goodbye.” Memories? «Many – the rossoblù coach is moved – but perhaps the best is when Davide, in a very complicated away match in Avigliana, scored the 2-1 goal at the end against the home team. His companions and I wanted to hug him to celebrate, but he ran so fast that we couldn’t catch him.”
