Carlos Vicente showed himself emphatically in La Liga on Sunday evening. The right winger from Deportivo Alavés, who is seen as an important transfer option by Ajax, was already accurate in the third minute against Real Betis.
Vicente was responsible for his own goal. After a throw-in on the right, the 26-year-old winger initiated the attack himself, moving along the touchline and then diving at the near post to fire in a low cross from close range. An early boost for Alavés and a moment that was undoubtedly followed with interest in Amsterdam.
The timing of the goal is striking. Ajax is working on the arrival of Vicente and sees him as the successor to Raúl Moro, who recently left for Osasuna. Technical director Jordi Cruijff has the Spaniard high on his list, as it became clear earlier. Although Ajax initially mainly aimed at rental structures, a permanent transfer of Vicente is also on the table.
