Some organized supporters of the Botafogo met this Friday (23/1) with SAF directors at Nilton Santos Stadium and issued an official note after expressing demands and concern about the financial and administrative crisis that is plaguing the club at the beginning of 2026.
The official note is signed by the organizers Crazy for Botafogo, Tongs, Loose, Super Alvinegros and by Nobody Loves Like Us Movement. They demand more transparency and planning.
Represented the club Alessandro Brito (director of sports management), Jonas Marmello (executive vice president of SAF), Joel Carli (football coordinator) and Felipe door (institutional relations).
Among the topics covered was the transfer bandelays in payments to players and football planning. Botafogo reported that the financial issue is treated as a priority by John Textor and said it trusts the work of the new commission, led by Martín Anselmi.

“On Friday afternoon, we were at the Nilton Santos Stadium for a meeting with the board of directors of SAF Botafogo. Representing the club, they participated Alessandro Brito, Jonas Marmello, Joel Carli and Fellipe Portella.
Our demands were clear: transparency, planning and, above all, a vision of the future consistent with the greatness of Botafogo. We admit that there are difficulties, but it is non-negotiable that the management is honest with the fans — who have always given their lives for this club.
We question the negative news and the lack of official communication. Regarding the points discussed, we highlight:
• Transferban and Finance: We were informed that the resolution of financial issues is treated as a priority directly by John Textor. We demand that the club communicate better and stop leaving fans at the mercy of media speculation. We emphasize that protests and vigilance will continue with regard to John Textor’s responsibilities; we demand definitive solutions, not promises.
• Football Planning: The board stated that they trust the current squad and the work of the new technical committee, regardless of the arrival of immediate reinforcements. We express our dissatisfaction with players leaving for rival clubs, something we consider unacceptable from a competitive perspective.
• Commitment on the Field: We will support the cast and professionals during the 90 minutes, as the moment demands unity. However, before and after the final whistle, the demand for professionalism and results will be relentless.
Botafogo belongs to its fans. If another big comeback is needed, we will be here. But we warn you, this requires responsibility and honesty with this club’s greatest asset: Our People.“
