Prince William and Prince George watch Aston Villa vs Barcelona match

Prince William and his 13-year-old son, Prince George, spent Nov. 3, 2026, at Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona watching Aston Villa play FC Barcelona in a UEFA Champions League-phase match — and George wore a black Aston Villa Adidas track jacket instead of the formal blazer he has typically worn to matches, Wolipop reported.

Prince William and the second in line to the British throne traveled to Spain to support Villa, the Birmingham-based club both back, in a match Barcelona won 3-0, according to Rakyatpos. The night was wet: Rakyatpos described heavy rain at the stadium, and photos showed William in a dark navy blazer over a crewneck sweater with a rain jacket, while George wore the black Villa-branded Adidas jacket with the club crest on the chest.

A Villa jacket at Camp Nou, not a blazer

The outfit marked a visible departure from George’s usual matchday dress. Since starting at Eton College in September, the prince has been photographed alongside his father in matching formal attire at sporting events, including Wimbledon, Wolipop reported. At Villa’s Champions League quarterfinal in Paris in April 2025, George wore a navy blazer, Rakyatpos noted, and at the Euro 2024 final in Berlin, he and William wore matching dark suits.

Wolipop reported that the jacket choice was initially read as an attempt to attract less attention, or possibly simply because George was cold on the unpleasant evening; the Adidas Tiro26 winter jacket would have served that purpose. Woman and Home, cited by Wolipop, has previously reported that George wore suits to sporting events because his father is his hero and he wanted to be like him. Now 13, the prince appears to be choosing his own clothes, Wolipop wrote.

From sequins to track jackets: George’s public style

This was not the first time George has drawn attention for an unconventional outfit. In 2022, at age 9, he watched British R&B singer Craig David perform in a sparkly blue sequined outfit at the Platinum Party at the Palace, a concert celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne, Rakyatpos reported. David later recalled on “The Jonathan Ross Show” that William messaged him afterward to say his son had become obsessed with the blue sequined look.

Barcelona welcomed the pair on X, saying the club felt honored to have them at the stadium, according to Rakyatpos. The visit came while George was on mid-term break from Eton College, the nearly 600-year-old boarding school near Windsor Castle that William and Prince Harry also attended, Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia reported.

A head on his father’s shoulder

Beyond the clothing, photos from the match showed George resting his head on William’s shoulder while appearing tired in the stands.

Father and son at the football

Attending matches together is an established tradition for the family. Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia reported that William and George traveled from Paris to Birmingham within days to watch Villa’s quarterfinal in April, and that the prince has accompanied his parents to football matches and major sporting events since childhood. William has said he hopes his children will eventually choose their own favorite clubs rather than simply following Aston Villa: “I hope that in the end they will each find their own favorite club,” he said, according to Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia. “They don’t all have to be Aston Villa supporters. I try not to be biased, but of course they see how enthusiastic I am about this club and often watch matches with me.”

William has also joked about his son outpacing him academically. In a 2025 episode of Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series “The Reluctant Traveler,” the prince acknowledged that George is far better at history than he is and that he now has to check dates with him, Rakyatpos reported. Asked in the same episode what it means to be king, William said he wants to create a world his son can be proud of what the monarchy does.

George began at Eton College in September, and his matchday routine with his father continues, with the 13-year-old now dressing more casually in an Aston Villa jacket during their Champions League trip to Barcelona.
