Wipperfürth – Badminton Bundesliga team Wipperfeld loses to table neighbors Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim.
1. BC Wipperfeld lost the top game of the 1. Badminton Bundesliga against former series champions 1. BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim 3:4. The home team thus managed to take revenge for the 3-4 defeat in the first leg. Thanks to their success, the Saarlanders pushed the BCW out of second place, and the two clubs could see each other again in the Final Four for the championship.
The guests had a few absences due to international tournaments, among other things, which is why Kajsa van Dalm and Léo van Gysel from the reserves supported the first division team. The women’s singles between Kaloyana Nalbantova and van Dalm developed into an intense four-set match, which Nalbantova won 9:11, 12:10, 11:7 and 11:6 for Bischmisheim. In the first men’s singles, van Gysel lost to the superior Mark Caljouw in three sets (11:5, 11:9, 11:8).
The first men’s doubles between Marvin Seidel/Marvin Datko and Christopher Grimley/Matthew Grimley (5:11, 9:11, 12:14) and the women’s doubles between Isabel Lohau/Sara Thygesen and Kristin Kuuba/Thuc Phuong Nguyen (6:11, 6:11, 5:11) went to Wipperfeld. The second men’s doubles, however, was won by the hosts, Marc Caljouw and Frederik Søgaard, against Aaron Sonnenschein and Jones Ralfy Jansen (11:5, 11:4, 11:7). In the mixed doubles, Christopher Grimley and Thuc Phuong Nguyen also had to accept a clear defeat against Frederik Søgaard and Isabel Lohau (11:3, 11:6, 11:6). The surrender of ex-Wipperfelder Marvin Seidel in the 2nd men’s singles against Matthew Grimley with the score at 1:1 remained a cosmetic result.
On Sunday, February 8th, the BCW will welcome 1. BV Mülheim in the Wipperfürth VOSS Arena at 11 a.m.
The current personnel shortages were better compensated for in the reserve team. Wipperfeld II managed to further extend its lead in the 2nd Bundesliga North. At 1. BC Recklinghausen the second guard won 6:1 and at VfB GW Mülheim the guests also left the field as winners (5:2). The next second division game is scheduled for Sunday, January 25th at 11 a.m. at SSV WBG Bochum.
