ATP Auckland Doubles: Gillé Defeated in First Round

Alongside the Dutchman Sem Verbeek (ATP D-34), the 34-year-old Limburger failed in the first round of this hard-court tournament worth $700,065. The Dutch-speaking pair was beaten by the New Zealand duo Finn Reynolds (ATP D-93) and James Watt (ATP D-89), who had an invitation. After an hour and 50 minutes, they won in three sets: 6-4, 6-7 (2/7), 13-11.

Associated since last September with the 31-year-old Amsterdammer (after having played successively last year with Jan Zielinski, Rohan Bopanna and Romain Arneodo), Sander Gillé was playing his sixth tournament in New Zealand with the Dutchman. They won three Challenger titles together in Villena, Brest and Brastislava at the end of 2025.
