Alejandro Davidovich Fokina enters the Rolex Paris Masters carrying a dramatically shifted career stature after capturing his maiden Masters 1000 crown at the Shanghai Rolex Masters, Tennis Temple reported. The Spaniard arrives at the Rolex Paris Masters following a 2026 campaign that also included ATP titles in Mallorca in June and Chengdu, changing his status.
Chasing New Challenges in Paris After Shanghai Success
Reflecting on his triumph in China during a pre-tournament interview with the ATP, Davidovich Fokina acknowledged the magnitude of his breakthrough while emphasizing the immediate demands of the indoor hard-court season in the French capital. Tennis Temple noted that the world-tour champion recognizes the target now painted on his back by fellow competitors.
Remporter un Masters 1000, c’est incroyable,
Davidovich Fokina told the ATP, describing the feeling of capturing his biggest career title.
The Spaniard stressed that brief celebrations must quickly yield to tournament preparation.
he said.
Davis Cup Leadership Observation in the French Capital
Davidovich Fokina’s run in Paris is being closely monitored by national team leadership. Spain’s Davis Cup captain David Ferrer and vice-captain Marc López are both present at the tournament site in Bercy, casting an observant eye over their top players ahead of the upcoming international team finals.
The Paris appearance precedes a confirmed trip to Italy for the Davis Cup Final 8, which gets underway in Bologna on November 24, 2026. Davidovich Fokina secured his selection for the Spanish squad following consistent form through the summer and autumn hard-court swings.
Praising Rafael Jódar and Recalling the Shanghai Final
Joining Davidovich Fokina on the Spanish team in Bologna is teenage compatriot Rafael Jódar.
The two Spaniards met previously in the title match in Shanghai, where Davidovich Fokina fended off the rising teenager. Looking back on that championship showdown, the veteran admitted to unusual pressure before stepping onto the court.
Davidovich Fokina said.
Praising Jódar’s rapid ascent, the Shanghai champion highlighted his opponent’s immediate impact on the professional tour.
he added.
