Linus Ullmark left for personal reasons, and the Ottawa “Senators” did not comment on when the Swedish goalkeeper could return to the lineup. “He has the full support of our organization during this period,” general manager Steve Stejos said.
The 32-year-old Ulmark has saved 88.1% of shots this season and has allowed an average of 2.95 innings. His record is 14-8-5.
In the Ottawa Senators’ loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, Ullmark made 10 of 14 shots before being substituted in the second period.
Ullmark moved to the Canadian capital in the summer of 2024, when he was traded from the Boston Bruins. He signed a four-year, $33 million contract with the new team.
“Senators” will play their next game tonight, when they host Elvi Merzlikin and Columbus “Blue Jackets”.
Ottawa’s number two is Finnish Levi Merilainen, who has shot 87.4% in ten games this season and has allowed an average of 3.43 goals.
“Senators” are in 13th place in the overall standings of the Eastern Conference, but the situation in the table is so tight that one victory would allow them to overtake five teams at once.
