Gera State Police Inspectorate

Altenburg (ots)

Altenburg. On the night of Saturday (December 21, 2025) around 12:15 a.m., a 36-year-old man caused an extensive police operation on the market square. The man initially insulted security staff at the Christmas market from his apartment, accompanied by loud right-wing music and repeated unconstitutional gestures. The man then went to the front of the building with a baseball bat and his dog, swung the bat several times and let the dog off the leash. He also hit a 24-year-old man in the head with his fist. Before the police arrived, the accused retreated back into his apartment and refused to open the door. Corresponding reports were made and the state police were informed. (DL)
