How good this will be for Senne Lammens. For the first time in almost three months, our compatriot kept a clean sheet at Manchester United. A wonderful volley from Dorgu even secured the three points, although Newcastle came very close to the equalizer several times.

From October 4 on his debut against Sunderland. It has been that long since Senne Lammens cleaned his nets at Manchester United.

But look: under the Christmas tree there was finally a new clean sheet. Against Newcastle, our compatriot was not faced with a health walk to digest the croquettes.

This became apparent after about 12 minutes, when Lammens had to distinguish himself for the first time. He scored with an excellent reflex on the corner.

Fortunately for the goalkeeper, it remained quiet in front of him for a while. United gradually took over and even took the lead after 24 minutes thanks to a nice volley from Patrick Dorgu.

Help from the crossbar

Actually well deserved based on that first half, in which Dorgu forced Newcastle goalkeeper Ramsdale into another good save. But then the party turned completely around.

Dorgu – again he – had to defuse a slider in the small rectangle, Hall’s equalizer burst onto the crossbar beyond Lammens’ reach and the VAR had also seen something.

A minute after Hall’s shot, the ball had ended up in a pinball phase against Martinez’s hand. Too light for a penalty, the video referee ruled. Phew.

Even after that, the heart of Lammens and the whole of Old Trafford skipped a beat a few times, Dalot and Sesko failed to decide the match on the other side.

But the British record champion can feel good about his last match of 2025, Tuesday against Wolves. Thanks to the narrow victory, it temporarily parks itself in 5th place.

And Lammens, he finally has a clean net to show off at the New Year’s table. Will he add another one in a few days?
