Since his retirement in 2016 Minnesota Timberwolves fans have eagerly awaited the day Kevin Garnett’s No. 21 jersey was withdrawnpaid by the deductible. For years however i relations between KG and the Glen Taylor ownership have been contentious to say the leastmaking impossible a moment that many were eagerly awaiting. Now that the T’Wolves’ handover from Taylor to the duo of Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez has been completed, KG is ready to go home. As T’Wolves officially announced, Garnett will return to an ambassadorial role for the franchise (with activities linked to the involvement of fans, the community and commercial partners) and there will be the ceremony of the retirement of his iconic number 21 over the next few seasons. “I’m excited to be back home,” Garnett said in the release. “Minnesota is where it all started, where I was young, hungry and learning to compete at the highest level. I’m excited to return to the Twin Cities at a time when Marc and Alex are establishing a new vision for this franchise. Their leadership has brought new energy to the organization and I am excited to help building what comes next for the Timberwolves, our fans and this community“. Garnett is still today franchise’s all-time leader in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks — the only one in NBA history leading one in all five categories, as well as the only MVP in team history with the title won in 2003-04.
