Mario Ferradini Receives Otello Formigli Award at FIP Toscana Ceremony

The Salone dei Cinquecento at Palazzo Vecchio will host the annual awards ceremony for the Comitato Regionale FIP Toscana this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Regional president Massimo Faraoni is set to lead the proceedings, which serve as the primary event for recognizing excellence within Tuscan basketball.

Mario Ferradini to receive the Otello Formigli Award

A central feature of the morning’s program is the presentation of the Otello Formigli Award to Mario Ferradini. A long-standing coach with the Use organization and current assistant coach for the club’s Serie A2 side, Ferradini is being honored for his extensive contributions to the sport. His career in the gym began as a player in 1968, followed by his transition to the bench in 1979.

Matteo Corsi, president of Use Rosa Scotti, described the honor as a milestone for the organization. “The news of this prestigious award for Mario fills us with joy, as it crowns a life spent on the court with passion, competence, and total dedication to the growth of athletes and young people,” Corsi stated.

Recognition for the Biancorosso youth sector

The ceremony also serves as a showcase for the recent achievements of the Biancorosso Sesa and Use Rosa Scotti youth programs. According to the organization, the event acts as a tribute to the collective results earned by their youth teams during the previous season.

Several squads are scheduled to be honored on the stage at Palazzo Vecchio:

  • Under 17 Eccellenza: The regional title-winning team coached by Luca Valentino.
  • Jr. NBA: The Biancorosso Indiana Pacers, winners of the Under 13 Coppa Toscana.
  • Women’s Sector: The Under 15 and Under 17 Gold squads, both recipients of the Coppa Toscana titles in their respective categories.
