It is ‘almost impossible’ that Jodri Cruijff will lead the January transfer period at Ajax. It reports that Algemeen Dagblad Wednesday morning. He is still in pole position to become the new technical director in Amsterdam, but he will most likely start later.
In the AD Football podcast Ajax watcher Johan Inan gives an update on the state of affairs. “There are a lot of things hanging over the market,” he begins. “They want to bring in a left back and a controller with experience. The way things are going now, I don’t expect those players within a few days. The same applies to the technical director, while a new coach, head scout and technical commissioner also need to be appointed.”
Inan believes there is little chance that the new technical director would join Ajax for the winter transfer period. “Jordi Cruijff is still in pole position. Ajax hopes to reach an agreement with him,” says the club watcher. “But it is almost impossible that he will run the transfer window in January, get a left back and a number six, and sell Taylor.”
Inan’s expectation is that Cruijff will not start in Amsterdam before February. “He will therefore take the time to appoint a new trainer. So I gradually assume that Grim will finish the season at Ajax,” he says. “If a technical director starts in February at the earliest and needs at least a month to appoint a trainer, then you are in March and that trainer would have to come in for the last two months. Moreover, the question is whether a trainer wants that.”
