Agape archers: passion and Olympic disciplines during Sports Day
Paulilatino has transformed Independence Square in a lively center of sport, sociality and entertainment during the fourth edition of the “Sports Day – The Passion that Unites”. The initiative, born in 2022 thanks to the impetus ofDepartment of Youth Policies, Sport and Tourismreceived the patronage of Municipality of Paulilatino and was organized by Sardinia Great Eventswith the support of Autonomous Region of Sardinia and of theDepartment of Tourism, Crafts and Commerce. The event confirmed once again the importance of sport as a tool for growth, inclusion and aggregation for children, teenagers and citizens throughout Sardinia.
Archery: passion and discipline for all ages
During the day, participants had the opportunity to get closer to the archery thanks to the presence of Giovanni Penduzzoresponsible for Agape Archersan association affiliated with CONI and Fitarco. The association, recently founded by a group of passionate friends, promotes the discipline throughout the Sardinian territory, offering activities for children, young people and adults. As explained by Penduzzu, archery is a sport that combines concentration, precision and discipline, accessible to anyone from 9 to 90 years old, and represents one of the oldest Olympic disciplines.
Bow types and competitions
Agape Archers offer experiences with different types of bows, fromtraditional bow all’Olympic archused in Olympic competitions, until compoundwhich will be included in the next Olympics. During the year, the federation organizes indoor races from September to February at distances of 18 and 25 meters, and outdoor races from March with the classic Olympic distances of 70 meters. There is also no shortage of 3D and field competitions, which simulate shooting on life-size animal silhouettes or target plates. These activities allow enthusiasts to experience archery in different contexts, developing technical skills and concentration.
A sport open to all in Sardinia
During Sports Day in Paulilatino, children and adults were able to try archery under the guidance of instructors, enjoying a unique and fun experience. Penduzzu recalled that the Agape Archers are based in Macomerbut they welcome athletes from all over Sardinia, from Bosa from Silanusup to Pauli Latino, Olbia, Sassari and Cagliari. The stand allowed us to approach new enthusiasts and provide information on the companies present on the island, confirming how archery is an inclusive, educational sport suitable for all ages.
