First very big NBA night of the season and, inevitably, some performance you want. Among them? That of Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe, who only needed two hours to get everyone to agree in Boston. That promises.
Some of you may remember the sensational debut of Michael Carter-Williams in the Sixers jersey in 2013, he who came close to a quadruple-double on his first night in adults, and against the Heat of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade please. This night the Bahamian rookie VJ Edgecombe also had his historic performance, the kid officially presented himself to the world and the Sixers can congratulate themselves on having got their hands on a nugget.
14 points in the first quarter, including a terrible tomar to set the tone. Then throughout the evening, the very young back (20 years old) that we had discovered during the TQO in 2024 sent a funny message to Sixers fans: dear friends, you have a new leader in town. S/o to Tyrese Maxey’s 40 pawns obviously, untenable during this opener against the Celtics, but in a world where the Joel Embiid project is stuttering (4 points to 1/9 last night), we know some leaders in Pennsylvania who must be reassured…

A 20-year-old kid who takes on the responsibilities of a veteran and who seems to be afraid of nothing, a Maxey – Edgecombe doublet that makes you salivate, and that’s how 48 minutes can bring immense sunshine to the start of the season, with the icing on the pancake for stats fans a place on a fairly historic podium.
VJ Edgecombe of the @sixers scored 34 points tonight, the third most ever by a rookie in his NBA debut.
▪️ Wilt Chamberlain: 43 PTS in 1959
▪️ Frank Selvy: 35 PTS in 1954
▪️ VJ Edgecombe: 34 PTS in 2025

On the Boston side Jaylen Brown and Derrick White scored 25 each and Neemias Queta was solid in the paint, but this morning around the TD Garden it’s this young phenomenon that everyone is talking about. VJ Edgecombe, new crack of the Sixers, and perhaps of the NBA altogether.
VJ EDGECOMBE JUST HAD THE MOST POINTS IN AN NBA DEBUT SINCE WILT CHAMBERLAIN 🚨🚨🚨
