Baseball Theft: Victim Worries About Thief’s Safety

The sequence has toured social networks. On Friday, September 5, a fan of Philadelphia Phillies attended the baseball match which opposed them to the Marlins of Florida when she continued Drew Feltwell, a father who came to recover a “Homerun” ball sent to the stands by Harrison Bader, the external field player of the Phillies, during the victory of his team.

The man wanted to offer him to his son, present in the stands with him, of which it was the birthday. But the spectator – the identity has still not been publicly revealed – did not let herself be dismantled and ended up being able to take the ball by dint of insisting and claiming it, believing that it came back to it since it had fallen at its feet.

The incident, captured by television cameras, flooded social networks, causing a wave of criticism of this fan of Phillies, so much so that the father who had caught the ball first intervened to call for calm.

“Internet has already confused her well”

This Monday, September 8, Drew Feltwell gave an interview to USA Today in which he worries about the safety of this spectator: “Please do nothing to this lady. (…) Leave it alone. You know, if someone knows her and can talk to her, it’s different. (…) But damn it, I don’t want people to rob his house and that kind of thing. The Internet has already confused it well, “he said. “I could say that she had what she deserved, but I don’t know if she deserved so much,” he added.

When Drew Feltwell proudly dropped the ball in his son’s baseball glove, after a little jostling as he was customary when something is sent to the stands during a match, the reaction of the pheth supporter was deemed disproportionate by the Internet users.

In an extract from the altercation, we hear the woman saying to Feltwell vehemently, accusing her of having stolen him: “It was to us! (…) You took it to me. You took it to me! It was in my hands ”. Hot in the stadium, the spectator was even nicknamed “Karen des Phillies”.

Faced with his insistence, Drew Feltwell preferred to give in, explaining to NBC 10 Philadelphia that he “simply tried to show the example by showing how to defuse a situation in front of my son”. After the match, Harrison Bader wanted to meet Lincoln and gave him a signed bat.
