The departmental outdoor archery championships took place on the weekend of May 18 and 19 in Mazières-en-Gâtine.
Organized by the local Archers de Gâtine club, they brought together exactly 129 competitors over the two days. 36 titles were awarded. The Archers du Pied du Roy de Courlay club took the biggest share of the cake by winning a quarter of them. Ardin (8 titles) and Thouars (6 titles) also did well. La Crèche and Mazières with four titles each, Le Tallud (3) and Niort (2) picked up the rest of the spoils.
During this competition, the Ardinoises Loïse Chaigne and Juliette Tisserond and the Courlitais François Cailleaud, in compound arch, achieved great performances which allowed them to appear in a good place in the national ranking. Heading now for the regional championships which will take place on June 8 and 9 in Poitiers for adults and June 22 and 23 in Mérignac for young people.
