West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá was formally accused by the Football Association (FA) — the English federation — due to alleged manipulation of events in matches to affect the betting market.
What happened
The player is accused of deliberately receiving a yellow card to influence “one or more people to profit from bets”said the FA, in a statement released this Thursday (23).
Paquetá is accused of acting improperly in four matches. These are duels against against Leicester (2022), Aston Villa (2023), Leeds (2023) and Bournemouth (2023), all valid for the English Championship.
