Elected best rookie of the 2023-24 financial year unanimously (99 first places out of 99 possible), the 20-year-old French prodigy was also placed in the typical team by the 99 journalists on the voting panel, just like the rookie from Oklahoma City Chet Holmgren (22 years old). With 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists on average for his first season in San Antonio (71 games), Victor Wembanyama delivered an exceptional season from an individual point of view. His rival from OKC, drafted in 2022 but injured throughout his first season, averaged 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 82 games with the Thunder, and in addition discovered the play-offs (15.6pts; 5.8rbds and 2.1pds on average in 10 matches). The two men are accompanied in the typical team by the winger (or full-back) of Charlotte Brandon Miller (17.3pts average), who obtained 97 votes, by the Miami winger Jaime Jaquez Jr (11.9pts), who obtained 89 votes, and by the leader (or rear) of Golden State Brandin Pod Ziemia (9.2pts), which obtained 64 votes.
