UPNA Students Shine in World University Championships: Finswimming Gold and Archery Silver

Oier Irisarri Rodríguez, student of the Master’s degree in Primary Education at the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), has won the gold medal in the World University Finswimming Championships, which took place on Friday and Saturday, the 26th and April 27, in Pereira (Colombia).

Added to this award is the silver medal obtained in the Spanish University Archery Championship, held last weekend at the University of Huelva, by Jorge Dabán Baines, a student of the Computer Engineering degree at the same academic institution. .

In the case of the world finswimming championship, Oier Irisarri won the 50-meter bifins event, also establishing a new championship record and, at the same time, a new national record with a time of 19:05. The tournament had the participation of 150 athletes from 17 countries who competed in the aquatic complex of the Olympic Village of Pereira.

As for the archery championship, it consisted of two parts: an individual competition, where Jorge Dabán won silver, and another for teams. In this case, the UPNA delegation was made up of Dabán himself, along with Jone Gaztelu Rodríguez, student studying Labor Relations and Human Resources, and Iranzu Martínez Díez de Arizaleta, student studying Biotechnology. The Navarrese team was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
