Paris Court Rules in Favor of Footballers in Image Rights Dispute with Players’ Union

In a judgment rendered this Wednesday, the Paris judicial court ruled in favor of Jérémy Doku, the Manchester City striker, and several other footballers, who attacked the players’ union for infringement of their image rights. To understand, let’s go back a little. In 1985, the UNFP created a company, Nouvelle Promo-Foot, intended to market the collective image rights of players that it claimed to hold under the footballers’ charter, which constitutes a collective agreement.
