On May Day, which was actually a game-free day, the Cologne Cardinals and Untouchables Paderborn met for a doubleheader in Cologne’s Circlewood Stadium. The games were originally scheduled for matchday 3, but had to be postponed due to weather. Both teams have only played four games this season, of which the U’s have won three and the Cards have only won one.

In the best weather, the game started with two quick runs for the U’s. The first point was scored by second baseman Shotaro Usui, who was able to advance to third base with a single, a stolen base and an error. Finally, Chris Beyers sent his teammate home with an RBI triple and scored a short time later on an RBI single from Linus Nixdorf. In the 4th inning, Paderborn added another run from Chris Beyers, who successfully reached home base with an RBI single from Tobias Maul.

At the end the Cards made the game exciting again. A double by Samuel Gorsch, a single by Haruki Gochi, an RBI by Evan Antonellis and an RBI single by Moritz Jödicke provided Cologne with two runs in the 6th inning. Ultimately, the late comeback was not rewarded. A caught steal and a double play in the 7th inning sealed the 3-2 win for the Untouchables.
