The confirmations continue for the Kaucana Sailing Club, which also stands out in national and international competitions. The four young sailors of the CVK Ilca class have returned after six days of intense competition in Izola in Slovenia to compete in the Youth European Championships. 407 young sailors competing, coming from 38 different nations (34 of which European), of which 83 are the Italians: 29 girls and 54 boys and among these Paolo Salvo, Gianmarco Livoti, Gilda Nasti and Lucrezia Micieli are the leading athletes of the Iblean association , accompanied by coach Giovanni Magliulo.
Of the six scheduled races, only four intense days were raced, with very variable and not always favorable conditions for the athletes who nevertheless brought home notable results: two athletes finished in Gold, Paolo Salvo twenty-second and Gilda Nasti sixteenth and the women’s under in fourth place 16. In the Silver fleet, Lucrezia Micieli placed in twelfth position and Gianmarco Livoti in twelfth position.
There is a lot to celebrate for a club that has only seen its growth in recent years and that for the first time competes internationally with the Ilca class. It is already an excellent result for a company that is entering international competitions of this type for the first time.
But there is also hope for the near future, since even the small ones in the Optimst class continue to reap successes: while the big ones were fighting to make their way among the biggest in Europe, the little ones were competing in a zonal race in Mondello at the end of which they certainly did not return empty-handed: Andrea Bellio finished in sixth place, followed by Alessandro Battaglia, seventh, and Annamaria Galofaro tenth. The latter receives the trophy for the third female place and for a first place as an athlete in 2013. Nicola Prestana also stands out with an excellent seventh place in race 5.
