Swiss Judokas Shine at Grand Slam Event in Dushanbe, Eyeing Olympic Glory

With four wins – including against the top seeded World Cup runner-up Kyle Reyes from Canada – Daniel Eich fought his way to the final. There the 24-year-old European Championship bronze winner from 2022 lost to the Italian Gennaro Pirelli by ippon.

A good two months before the Olympic Games and almost three weeks before the World Championships in Abu Dhabi, the Swiss judoka are in brilliant form. In the Tajik capital on Friday, Fabienne Kocher made history in the up to 52 kg category with a final victory against compatriot Binta Ndiaye. The two will have a tough fight for the only Swiss Olympic ticket in their weight class.

On Saturday, world champion Nils Stump doubled in the up to 73 kg class and celebrated his third victory at Grand Slam level. Before the World Cup, another tournament of the highest category will take place in Astana in a week.
