After the persistent rains of the last period, the last days of sun and wind have combed the race paths allowing the athletes to enjoy the wildest and most fascinating part of the Borbera valley.
STONE GATES (74km 4200+)
Uncertain race until the halfway point with a small leading group that doesn’t split up. Only after 40 km does Pablo Barnes manage to impose his experience and lead a solo ride to the finish line in Cantalupo Ligure. Great satisfaction for the stainless athlete of Argentine origin, already winner together with Marco Olmo of the first edition of 2006. Behind him, on equal merit, Poggi Nicola and Rigoni Mirko.
In the women’s field, the leading race had Gossa Nicoletta as its protagonist right from the start, who was able to impose her pace until the finish line, separating Ilaria Lo Prete. Third step of the podium for Oliveri Virginia.
STONE WINDOWS (34km 2000+)
In the men’s field it’s a battle from the first km and the leading group alternates in command until, in the second half of the race, the faster and smoother profile favors Alessandro Riva who reaches the finish line with a decent margin of advantage over Daniel Vinco and Gabriele Gaggero.
The women’s Finestre, on the other hand, never gave rise to any surprises and Anna Grignaschi led a solitary lead from start to finish. Next, completing the podium, are Scanziani Sofia and Marinescu Michaela.
STONE CASTLE17km 700+
The “small” part of the event was a triumph of emotions and sport with almost 300 participants, divided between competitive and non-competitive. Male dominance by Gianfranco Cucco who lowered his previous record from 2023, separating André Barailler from Valle d’Aosta and Roberto Antonelli.
At the women’s level, undisputed victory for Daniela Valgimigli, athlete representing Team Lurbel. Following, Monica Moia and Montani Stephanie complete the podium.
CHILDREN’S TRAIL
An explosion of joy and vitality erupted from the many children who participated in the race dedicated to them.
