Slovenian Referee Slavko Vincic to Officiate Champions League Final Amid Controversy

The Slovenian Slavko Vincic will be in charge of directing the most important match of the season in UEFA competition, the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. The referee has been appointed ahead of other referees who aspired to be the judges of the great European duel, like the Dutch Makkelie, the Polish Marciniak or the English Taylor.

The referee, who has never refereed Real Madrid, brings back good memories to Dortmund, since Borussia-Atlético whistled for the yellow comeback in the quarterfinals. Dortmund had been whistled once in an official match, in a 1-2 defeat against RB Salzburg in the round of 16 of the 2017-2018 Europa League. This season in the Champions League Lazio-Atlético (1-1), PSG-Milan (3-0) and Naples-Braga (2-0) have whistled in the group stage and Bayern-Lazio (3- 0) in eighths.

The false case of drugs and prostitutes

In the middle of the pandemic, in mid-May 2020, Vincic went to Suhio Polje, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, on the occasion of some private meetings. He was invited to eat at a ranch. There he went with his partners. When they arrived they occupied a table in a place where there were many people they did not know.

In the middle of the meal, The place was surrounded by Bosnian security forces. All the people who were at the ranch were detained. Then it was discovered that it was a raid linked to drug trafficking, prostitution and capital evasion.

Vincic was interrogated, but was immediately released and that night he slept at home, in Maribor. From there what happened did not happen for him, but what remained was that an elite UEFA referee had been involved in a police operation against mafia elements.
