Renovated Sports Hall Inaugurated with the 1,000 Dojos System

Thursday, the town inaugurated the renovation of the sports hall with the 1,000 dojos system.

Denis Gervais, the mayor, admitted that this work was not, basically, a priority. “We took advantage of a combination of circumstances with the 1,000 dojos operation to renovate this room which is not only used for judo, but also for acrobatic gymnastics and for schoolchildren who come to use this room every day. »

Since the renovation of the room in January, Fabienne Boffin, 6th dan judo teacher, has managed to bring together 25 children aged 4 to 11 to introduce them to judo.

Maëlle Di Cintio, coordinator and development manager for 1,000 dojos, explains: “The renovation of this solidarity dojo allowed the reopening of a club which had been dormant for 15 years. 80% of the funding was covered by the National Sports Agency. The development of sport is not designed only for the high level. Champions are not born in the French team, but in territories like here. »

Francis Cammal, vice-president of the departmental council, addressed the students in the judo class: “Dear children, this place is dedicated to you. This type of equipment is often found in town. We are counting on you for the coming years. Fabienne, your teacher, was a white belt like you. She was also a world and European championship medalist. »

The solidarity dojo was also sponsored by the Renault company, which financed a fresco on the theme of Japan created by Gabriela Gonzalez Segura and her daughter Mathilde for the Arteria association.

After the inauguration speeches, the children gave a judo demonstration in the company of officials from the departmental judo committee who had put on their kimono and joined them on the tatami. The children were proud to interact with black belts.
