Antoine Dupont commits to the front page of “Têtu” – Libération

Like Antoine Griezmann in 2019, the star scrum half of the French XV is on the cover of the magazine dedicated to LGBTQ issues, in its edition to be published on Wednesday June 19.

“Don’t be afraid of reflections” and break the clichés of “manliness” to “simply help stop homophobia” in rugby. Antoine Dupont gets involved: the superstar of the French XV appears on the front page of Têtu magazine, dedicated to LGBTQ issues, in its edition to be published on Wednesday. In January 2022, the captain of the Blues had already posed naked, under a yellow Balenciaga bathrobe, on the front page of GQ magazine. This time, it is his face alone, crossed out with the title “Neither taboo, nor shame”, which makes the cover of Le Têtu de l’été.

“That all players feel good about their sexuality”

Inside, ten pages in which the Stade Toulouse scrum half recounts his hope of a medal at the Paris Olympic Games with the French sevens rugby team, but above all his commitment to the fight against homophobia . Referring to the only French professional rugby player to have declared his homosexuality, Jérémy Clamy-Edroux (Rouen), the Blues star states: “I very much doubt that there is only one gay on the pitch!”

“So the goal is for all players to feel good about their sexuality and accepted,” continues the 27-year-old, who poses for Louis Vuitton (LVMH group), of which he is now one of the ambassadors. “Even if rugby can be seen as macho, we are very open-minded, and today I think we are all capable of accepting each other’s sexual orientations,” underlines the recent winner of the Champions Cup. So we really have to repeat it, communicate about it, so that everyone definitely feels at ease.”

In May 2019, the attacking midfielder of the French football team, Antoine Griezmann, also made the front page of Têtu. And, at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a country which punishes homosexuality, he repeated that members of the LGBTQ community would “always (his) support”.
