Ramses Meléndez Transfers to Mississippi State University for NCAA Basketball

Arecibo prospect Ramses Meléndez announced this Saturday that he transferred to Mississippi State University heading into his fourth year of eligibility in NCAA Division I college basketball.

Meléndez made the announcement on his X account – formerly Twitter.

Mississippi State will be Melendez’s third college, after spending his first two years at Illinois and last year at Georgia.

The Puerto Rican comes from averaging 9.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game with the Georgia Bulldogs. Of the 36 games played, he started seven in the starting lineup. He also shot 45.% from the field, including 30.4% from the three-point line.

The 6’7″ tall player played his first two seasons at Illinois. In his first year, he recorded 3.8 points and 1.7 sacks per game. For the second season, he raised his numbers to 5.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game.

Meléndez, who wore the national jersey with youth teams, developed in the Arvaja and Arecibo Basketball categories.
