PSG: surprise return of Presnel Kimpembe to training

Three training sessions and a surprise. Two days before the Coupe de France final, PSG held a third collective session at the PSG Campus since training resumed on Tuesday afternoon. It was notably marked by an unexpected return: that of Presnel Kimpembe. Having another operation on his Achilles tendon at the beginning of December after a rupture in February 2023, the Parisian defender completed part of the day’s session and participated in a few exercises before leaving his partners and continuing individually.

This return, somewhat in advance on the basis of his recovery protocol, does not mean that he will be in the PSG group for the final of the Coupe de France against Lyon, Saturday in Lille. In addition to the absence of the Parisian titi, Sergio Rico and Lucas Hernandez, Luis Enrique should be able to count on a complete group. In fact, almost the entire group was present in session this Thursday morning and since Tuesday evening, the training sessions have been of good quality.

The break was good

It seems that the break and the days of rest granted to Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz or Donnarumma, but also those granted to Warren Zaire-Emery or Achraf Hakimi in the middle of last week, have done the greatest good. After noting relaxation in the days following the elimination in the semi-final of the Champions League against Dortmund (0-1, May 7), the Spanish coach and his staff were able to appreciate the intensity displayed by the players and more work.

The Parisians travel to Lille on Friday and will perform a final rehearsal at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium at 4:45 p.m., while Luis Enrique will speak to the media at 4 p.m. He will be accompanied by Marquinhos. The next day, they will try to win a third title this season in front of 16,000 Parisian supporters who will make the trip.
