Pogacar strikes the first blow in the Giro: stage victory and leadership

The Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (Tean Emirates) became the new leader of the Giro d’Italia after winning alone this Sunday in the second stage, held between San Francesco al Campo and the Sanctuary of Oropa.

Pogacar, who spent a time of 3h 54:20 to complete the 161 kilometers of the route, was 27 seconds ahead of the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martínez (Bora Hansgrohe), second, and the Welshman Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers), third.

Much further behind came the until now leader, the Ecuadorian Jhonatan Narváez (Ineos Grenadiers), who crossed the finish line 2:04 minutes behind Tadej Pogacar.
