Italian runner-up AC Milan and coach Stefano Pioli are going their separate ways after five years.
“Milan and Stefano Pioli announce that they will not continue their collaboration,” the club announced on Friday. On Saturday, Milan will face US Salernitana in the last game of the season.
Pioli led Milan to its 19th Italian championship title in 2022; his contract ran until 2025. However, after recent disappointing results, there had been repeated protests from fans. The Portuguese Paulo Fonseca is considered the first candidate to succeed him.
