Martin and Aleix Espargaro took turns leading the first day of the Catalunya GP

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Prima Pramac racer Jorge Martin and Aprilia racer Aleix Espargaro took turns leading two sessions of the sixth series of the Catalunya MotoGP at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit on the first day, Friday.

In the free practice 1 (FP1) session which was held for 45 minutes, the racer who dominated the Le Mans Circuit two weeks ago, Martin was the best with a time of 1 minute 39.579 seconds.

Marc Marquez from Gresini Racing was second fastest with 0.292 seconds slower, followed by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing racer Brad Binder in third place with 0.379 seconds slower.

Meanwhile, in the practice session which was played a few hours after FP1, Aleix Espargaro came out as the fastest.

The racer who decided to retire at the end of this season improved his time record to 1 minute 38.562 seconds, 1.489 seconds faster than what he recorded in FP1 where he was the fifth fastest.

This record is a signal that the racer born in Granollers, Spain is still king at the Catalunya Circuit, a circuit he conquered twice in the sprint and main race last season.

In this session which lasted 1 hour, Brad Binder was in second place with 1 minute 38.634 seconds. 19 year old rookie Pedro Acosta followed in third place with 1 minute 38.665 seconds.

In fourth position, there is Bagnaia, followed by Jack Miller in fifth position, and Martin in sixth position.

Tomorrow Saturday (25/5) the racers will face a fairly busy session starting at 15.10 – 15.40 WIB in free practice session 2.

Ten minutes after free practice 2 is finished, the racers will start qualifying sessions 1 and 2 to find the starting grid at 15.50 – 16.05 WIB and 16.15 – 16.30 WIB.

After completing the qualifying session, the racers will start a sprint session with 12 laps at 20.00 WIB.
