Los Angeles Lakers Fire Head Coach Darvin Ham after Two Seasons

The Los Angeles Lakers announced this Friday the dismissal of Darvin Hamhis coach in the last two NBA seasons.

Rob Pelinka, general manager of the Los Angeles franchise, thanked in a statement the coach’s “effort” during his time with the Lakers and especially recognized “the exceptional” run to the Western finals last year.

Ham landed in the Californian city in 2022 to relieve Frank Vogelwho had led those in purple and gold to the ring in the 2020 ‘bubble’.

The coach leaves the Lakers like this after two seasons of constant ups and downs. In the 2022-2023 campaign, they recovered from a disastrous start (2-10) to come back in the final stretch and reach the Western final, where they lost to some Denver Nuggets who later They would become NBA champions.

This season, The Lakers conquered the first edition of the NBA In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas (USA) but later they said goodbye at the first change of the ‘playoff’ again against the Nuggets.

In the two courses of Ham, the Lakers finished the regular season in seventh position and they qualified for the playoff through the play-in (balance of 43-39 in 2023 and 47-35 in 2024).

Con LeBron James (39 years old and already 21 seasons in the league) and Anthony Daviss as props of the template, the Lakers now face the search for a new coach and, according to The Athletic portal, candidates like Mike Budenholzer, Kenny Atkinson, JJ Redick o Tyronn Lue (this one still leading the Los Angeles Clippers).
