There is someone who dreams of becoming the next Ahn Se-young. This is Kim Min-seon (3rd year at Chiak High School), a promising badminton player with a strong heart.

Although he is young and not yet an adult, he confidently competed with his skills and won his first Taegeuk symbol at the end of last year. They also received attention as ‘shuttlecock twin prodigies’. Kim Min-seon and her older sister Kim Min-ji are promising badminton players who have excelled since elementary and middle school. The two swept the junior stage women’s doubles championship. She is also strong in women’s singles. Unfortunately, her older sister Kim Min-ji fell out of her national team selection event at the end of last year due to a knee injury. Since we started playing badminton, we have never lived apart from each other, but we always support and encourage each other.

Kim Min-seon competed against an Indonesian player with a strong heart that was unusual for the youngest at the recently held ’30th World Women’s Team Championship (Uber Cup)’. Although she lost the match, she lost by a narrow margin, so she clearly showed herself as a promising player in badminton.

Kim Min-seon, who faced a player ranked in the top 100 in the world for the first time, said, “I was a little worried, but when I actually tried it, I felt that I also had potential. Thinking that he might make it to the entry list, he prepared by watching a lot of videos of his opponent the day before the game. “His twin Minji also analyzed the video with him and cheered him on, saying that he could win if he just prepared a little more,” he recalled.

There must have been a lot of regret after the game ended. Min-seon Kim said, “His first match after joining the national team was a team event. To be honest, he felt a little bit of pressure, but once he entered the court, he gained confidence that it was worth it. He replied, “After the game was over, he felt very disappointed because he did not get a ticket to the finals, but I think he needs to find improvement points and prepare well for the next game.”

To the youngest, who enjoys just training with his role model Ahn Se-young, Ahn always advises, “I hope you don’t rush and enjoy badminton.”

In response, Kim Min-seon said, “Se-young is not very tall either. I think she’s similar to me, but she has a lot more power and speed. “She tries to work out hard without being impatient while learning various things from Seyoung, such as taking care of her body and how to play well on the court.”

Maybe that’s why there are already so many fans. When Kim Min-seon enters the Uber Cup site and dormitory, fans are busy clamoring for photos and asking for autographs.

When asked if she felt the popularity, Kim Min-seon said, “It doesn’t really feel like it yet, but I’m thankful that many people I don’t know mentioned my name at the game. “I feel like I need to work harder,” he said shyly.

He said that he hopes to play badminton happily in the future. Kim Min-seon said, “Even if I can’t match Se-young’s skills, I will work hard to be able to do as well as Se-young.” My biggest dream is to manage my injuries and condition well and be happy and exercise for a long time. “I want to win a medal at the Olympics,” he said, expressing his ambition.
