In the End of an Era: NBA’s ‘Inside The NBA’ to Conclude After 2024-2025 Season

In the midst of renegotiation for its TV rights, the NBA seems to have chosen its new partners for the period starting in 2025. A list of partners which does not include TNT, which means that the famous show “Inside The NBA” will experience its last season next year. Sniff.

Do you love it when Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal argue until they argue live on TV? Do you like the analyzes of Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson? Does it make you smile when Shaq and Kenny race to the videoboard at halftime of games?

A word of advice: make the most of it until next season because then it will be over.

Indeed, if we are to believe the Sports Business Journal et ScreenTime, the NBA is on the verge of finalizing its new TV rights contracts with Disney/ESPN, NBC and Amazon. The TNT channel is no longer in the deal, and the show “Inside The NBA” will not be renewed on another channel knowing that Ernie Johnson – big face of the show and present from the very beginning – does not intend to leave TNT . The show will thus experience its very last season in 2024-25, which corresponds to the last year of the NBA’s current deal with its broadcasters.

Whether you’re a fan or not of the eccentricities of Shaq, Chuck and Co., it’s a page that is turning in the NBA media landscape. The show “Inside The NBA” has been running since 1989 and has won 18 Sports Emmy Awards! It’s a show that has punctuated the world of the orange ball season after season, impacting several generations of fans.

“It sucks, it sucks for everyone I work with. […] There are probably 200 people who will lose their jobs at Turner (TNT) if we don’t have the NBA.”

“Would you be open to carrying the show [INSIDE THE NBA] on a different network?”

Charles Barkley:
“I don’t know. Ernie [Johnson] would not go to another network, I’m damn sure about that.. But I would listen before I made any decisions.”pic.twitter.com/ep2S4Hj2Nq

We’ll have to make up our minds. “Inside The NBA” is almost over. There are only two things left to do:

  • Enjoy the last season, which could well be the craziest of all;
  • Relive the best moments of the show.
  • R.I.P., 1989 – 2025.

    The best moments from the show “Inside The NBA”
