How the Technical Committee of the Pension Fund for Wellbeing will be integrated – El Sol de México

The Pension Fund for Wellbeing will have a Technical Committee, in accordance with the decree signed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. This fund will serve to complete the pensions of workers who contribute to the IMSS Law of 1997 and the ISSSTE of 2007, as long as it does not exceed a limit of 16,777.78 pesos per month.

Yesterday, the decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) established that the trust will have a Technical Committee in charge of issuing operating rules on the reception, administration, investment, deliveries and returns of resources to the Institute.

The Committee will be made up of representatives of the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit), the Secretariats of Finance and Public Credit, the Interior, Labor and Social Security, as well as the IMSS, ISSSTE, the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (Consar) and the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).

According to the general director of Infonavit, Carlos Martínez Velázquez, the Technical Committee will have the task of defining the operating rules and the investment regime to guarantee sustained savings that generate returns in the future.

When will the first pension be paid with the Fund?

Infonavit reported that on July 1 of this year the first pension will be paid with the supplement that comes from the Pension Fund for Wellbeing. In addition, he added that both they and the IMSS and ISSSTE will open a single window to provide guidance on this reform.

In its initial stage, the Fund will be financed mainly with just over 40 billion pesos from unclaimed savings in the Afores by people aged 70 or older and whose accounts are inactive.

According to Infonavit, it will be during the second half of June when the Afores, the IMSS, the ISSSTE, and the INDEP, as well as other financing sources, must transfer the resources to the fund.

The Undersecretary of the Treasury, Gabriel Yorio, said that the Pension Fund will need resources of around 130 billion pesos for its first 10 years of existence.
